Worker or Contractor: The IRS May Decide For You
Feb. 3, 2010, 2 p.m. ET 
The IRS recently launched what it calls a "national research program," which will randomly select and audit 6,000 employers over the next three years. The IRS will be looking at employers' compliance regarding the very grey area of worker classifications, fringe benefits, owner compensation and reimbursed expenses. In this program, Kevin Johnson, an attorney and former IRS agent, will describe steps you can take to review your employee/independent contractor classification practices and how to prepare if you are audited.

Before It's Too Late: The Stay Interview

Stay interviews are supervisor-driven tools that put your leaders in the retention seat, as they hear first-hand why employees stay. In that way, they can be far more effective exit interviews. In this program, retention guru and author Dick Finnegan reviews specific questions that can be used in such interviews and how to center the discussion on elements within supervisors' and HR's control.

Open All Year: Wellness Options Beyond Open-Enrollment Season

Many employers make their workers aware of health-care benefits during open-enrollment season. While this is a necessary approach for primary health insurance coverage, recruiting participation in other health care and wellness initiatives can take place at any time during the year.
