Labor Market & Economic Data

SHRM publishes monthly and quarterly labor market and economic research with data and statistics that are based on surveys of thousands of human resource professionals representing multiple industries in both the private and public sector.

SHRM’s Leading Indicators of National Employment (LINE) Report tracks trends in the labor market on a monthly basis, including hiring projections released one month ahead of the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Employment Situation report as well as data on job vacancies in exempt and nonexempt employment.  Exclusive metrics also include new-hire compensation trends and recruiting difficulty.

Each quarter the SHRM Labor Market Outlook (LMO) Report examines employment and recruiting trends in the United States.  It is based on a quarterly survey of more than 400 public and private-sector human resource professionals with a direct role in the staffing decisions at their respective companies. Respondents come from small, medium and large companies from around the U.S. and belong to a variety of for-profit, non-profit and government entities.
