Aging and Employment: Workforce Planning and Talent Management

This module covers aging labor force dynamics from the perspective of the individual, employer, and society. In particular, the module explores the work/leisure trade-off associated with traditional retirement compared to the economic uncertainties and forces to extend one’s work life from the perspective of the individual. Taught across eight (8), 120- to 150-minute classes, this course examines labor market dynamics, employer practices, work/leisure preference patterns, economic security issues, and federal policy as it affects the employment of the aging workforce. A syllabus and recommended references and readings accompany the PowerPoint presentations. Each set of slides includes teaching notes accessible via in the Notes View option in PowerPoint.
