Recently, SHRM sent out advocacy alerts to its members on two major issues confronting the HR community, and SHRM members responded overwhelmingly.

In the first alert, DHS Official Questions SHRM's Motives on Employment Verification Issue, SHRM urged its members to share with their elected officials concerns about the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) unfair criticism of the Society’s opposition to the E-Verify program. SHRM members sent more than 6,000 letters to Members of Congress stating their strong opposition to DHS’s attack on SHRM and the HR profession.
In the second alert, VOTE NO on H.R. 1338, the “Paycheck Fairness Act,” SHRM asked its members to contact their Representatives and urge them to vote no on H.R. 1338, the “Paycheck Fairness Act.” SHRM’s members responded and wrote 4,088 letters urging Members of the House of Representatives to oppose the bill.
SHRM is continuing its efforts to be the leading voice for HR on public policy. To date, members have sent more than 30,000 letters to their representatives in Washington and state legislatures on issues of importance to the HR profession. Thanks to your active participation in the public policy arena, SHRM is raising the visibility of the human resources profession in Washington and state capitals!
Thank you for your commitment and involvement!
